Bahamians

Bahamians are people of the Bahamas. It\'s the plural of the word Bahamian.

Eighty five percent of Bahamians are of African Heritage, the rest are of European, Asian and Hispanic descent. Those of European descent are also referred to as Conchs or Conchy Joes.

• Tony McKay "Exuma the Obeah Man" Musician/ Performer, Artist;
• Sir Sidney Poitier, Actor and Ambassador.
• Shakara Ledard, Super Model.
• Sir Lynden Pindling, former Prime Minister
• Debbie Ferguson, Bahamian Olympian and sprint athlete.
• "King" Eric Gibson is a Bahamian musician and entrepreneur. He is also the semi-official Ambassador of Bahamian Goodwill.
• Priscilla Rollins, Entertainer, recording artist
• John "Chippie" Chipman, A local folk hero, widely known and credited for making goatskin and sheep skin drums. It is estimated that alone he made some four (4,000) thousand drums a year.
• Baha Men, Famous Bahamian singing group.
• Roxy Roker, actress known for role on the TV series The Jeffersons
• Lenny Kravitz, rock and roller, and son of Roxy Roker.
• Kimbo Slice, streetfighter turned mixed martial artist.
• Mychal Thompson, former NBA player for the Portland Trailblazers and the Los Angeles Lakers aka "Sweet Bells"
• Wendy Coakley-Thompson, author of Back to Life (novel) and What You Won\'t Do For Love
• Mark Knowles, Bahamian Professional tennis player
• Rick Fox, Bahamian Professional basketball player, Los Angeles Lakers
• Persia White, Bahamian actress, UPN\'s Girlfriends
• Myles Munroe, internationally known Bahamian televangelist
• George Symonette, Father of Bahamian Calypso, composer and pianist.
• Tonique Williams-Darling, 2004 Olympic gold medalist (400m), 2005 IAAF World Champion, she split the Golden League - Million Dollar Jackpot ($500,000) by winning 8 concetive 400m events in the championship serise. Bahamas Government honour the Olympic and World Champian; by naming a major highway the "Tonique Williams-Darling Highway".
